Support the student musicians of DVHS!
Our goal, as it has since we began over 10 years ago, is to provide a meaningful music education for our nearly 800 students-musicians. Here’s just some of what we provide for the music students at DVHS:
- Put on multiple concerts for each music group each year, including Pops, choir's most popular concert which sells out every year
- Professional clinicians to work with student musicians
- Transportation to performances and competitions
- Sheet music at a cost of approximately $15,000/year
- Purchase, maintain and tune instruments for our students to play
- Provide annual music t-shirts for each student performer
- Professionally record our concerts
- Introduced a Drum Line program
- Assisted in the funding of the first year of the AP Music Theory class
- Performed at the LA International Music Festival, in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and at Carnegie Hall
- Purchased stage and sound equipment for concerts
- Awarded more than $15,000 in scholarships to music students over the life of the program
Our program receives less than $1 per student/year from the district. Music Boosters covers the rest. And it’s a lot!
